So now you see what’s in your dog’s food. Pretty disgusting, isn’t it?
The pet food industry has been deceiving the public and they are slowly killing your pet! Everything that is “unfit for human consumption,” is being given to your dog in the form of commercial dog food, and this ranges from chemicals, toxins, preservatives, and diseased and euthanized animals.
The problem with commercial pet food often begins with the rendering plants. Everything from your ‘dead, diseased, dying, and disabled’ animals, decaying roadkill, zoo animals, old grocery store meat, and euthanized animals go into the rendering vat. And this is along with plastic, styrofoam, collars, and ID tags.
And if this isn’t bad enough, rendering factories actually add one of the worst preservatives of all to preserve dry dog food – ethoxyquin (EQ). Factory workers exposed to EQ have exhibited the following side effects:
rise in liver or kidney damage
cancerous skin lesions
hair loss
blindness
leukemia
fetal abnormalities
chronic diarrhea
And this is just from exposure. Your dog is EATING it! Also, the FDA lists EQ as a pesticide, in other words it’s a chemical used to kill harmful plants and animals (your dog).
The result of this processed ‘food’ at the rendering factory is a brown powder, of which 25% is fecal matter! (‘The Mad Cowboy’ by Howard F. Lyman).
Your dog would be better off if you got his food from the city dump!
The bottom line is that pet food provides a way to turn meat, poultry and grains considered “unfit for human consumption,” to be turned into a profit for the pet food industry.
This is all at the expense of your dog’s health!
So now you see what’s in your dog’s food. Pretty disgusting, isn’t it?
If you’re buying cheap, discounted dog food, you’re slowly killing your dog. By the same token, the majority of the premium dog food brands are almost as bad as the cheap ones.
The pet food industry is a multi-billion dollar a year industry, and the companies have the majority of the public actually believing they’re trying to help our dogs, when nothing could be further from the truth. The only ones they’re trying to help is… their bottom line profit!
You think your dog is really getting chicken in his ‘chicken dinner’ dog food? Think again! He’s getting the feet, intestines, feathers and heads, along with other parts of the bird.
And for beef he’s actually getting brains, tongues and other tissues that can be cancerous and diseased.
Even the grains are not fit for consumption. Most grains are not whole grains, and if by chance they are whole grain, then they are poor quality, perhaps due to mold or other contaminants.
Your dog is getting everything that is unfit for human consumption – and it’s killing him!
Here are some dog food label terms you should be aware of:
Animal Protein
When animals go to the slaughterhouse, around 50% of the animal is not used for human consumption. What is left – bones, feet, heads, intestines, spleens, ligaments, lungs, and fat trimmings (just to name a few) are known as ‘by-products’. Not only can these products contain very little nutritional value, they can also include diseased and cancerous materials.
Needless to say, if your pet food has ‘by-products’ on the label you should avoid it like the plaque it really is!
The premium brands of pet foods don’t contain by-products, but usually there is still very little ‘meat’ included. It’s mainly scrap meat and with poultry the bones can even be included in the term ‘poultry’, so the ‘poultry’ in your pet’s ‘chicken dinner’ probably consists mainly of chicken backs!
Any time you see the term ‘meal’, it means the material has been rendered, it’s not fresh. This is where all the ‘dead, dying, diseased and disabled’ animals turn up – at the rendering plant!
Any foods with the term ‘meal’ in it should also be avoided.
Vegetable Protein
There is a large amount of plant material now used in pet food. Gluten meals are considered protein from which most of the carbohydrate has been removed. Corn gluten meal and wheat gluten are two of the glutens commonly found in pet food.
They are an inexpensive way to increase the protein content of your pet’s food and your dog should not be eating them.
Animal and Poultry Fat
If you open a bag of pet food and wondered what the strange smell was, well, it’s usually rendered animal fat (or any other fats not fit for human consumption). It’s used to make the food more palatable. Normally, your dog wouldn’t eat what is in commercial food without this addition. The pet food companies know how to make your dog love the taste of ‘garbage’.
The bottom line is that pet food provides a way to turn meat, poultry and grains considered “unfit for human consumption,” to be turned into a profit for the pet food industry.
